#UAECompassion Garners AED 195m Support

As of Tuesday, the #UAECompassion campaign recieved AED 195 million, with the numbers increasing, to support the refugees of Levant who were affected by the winter storm, Huda, in the region, a daily report stated.

The #UAE Compassion Campaign also called Tarahamu is an initiative based on the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

A telethon was organized on Friday for the campaign with the biggest donation made by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, who donated AED 20 million.

Other government organizations including Dubai Electricity and Water Authority along with Emirates, Dubai Islamic Humanitarian Foundation and Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation have also participated in the donation campaign.

Government offices and residents alike, used social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook to urge people to participate in the campaign by donating to the refugees. Snapshots of how people can donate were shared on these digital mediums.

The Levant region which primarily comprises Cyprus, Israel, Palestinian territories, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria faced strong winter storms in the past few days with the affects of the biting cold being felt in the UAE as well.
