Data Point: Mobile Primary Shopping Device For MEA’s Grocery Buyers

Online Grocery Buyers or internet users who say they have main or joint responsibility for the household food shopping and have purchased at least one grocery product online in the past six months form a core part of online shopping.

When buying any kind of product online, it’s almost seven in 10 online grocery buyers globally who have done so via mobile in the last month – highlighting the importance of optimization towards a seamless mobile experience. In the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region too, in comparison to the 56 percent who have shopped grocery online via mobile, only 45 percent have shopped via a laptop or desktop.

In regions such as Europe and North America, PC/laptops have an impressive lead as the primary device in online commerce – reflecting the position these devices maintain in mature markets, but it is evident that a multi-device strategy is a must for regions like MEA.
