Latvia To Host First Women Entrepreneurs Program With Uzbekistan

The association “Riga TechGirls” together with the Uzbek non-governmental organization “Tech4Impact” launches the “Female Founders Across Borders” learning and experience exchange program, that will unite 30 female founders of startups in Latvia and Uzbekistan.

The program “Female Founders Across Borders” was created to provide support to women who are in the process of founding or have already founded their own companies, and to give an opportunity to improve the skills necessary for successful business development. These businesswomen will participate in workshops, receive individual mentoring from industry professionals, and will also go on an experience exchange trip to the partner country.

The goal of the project is to promote the exchange of experience and the creation and development of technology companies founded and managed by women in Latvia and Uzbekistan. The acquired knowledge will contribute to the development of innovative thinking, business and IT knowledge, and other necessary skills for female business founders. Breaking stereotypes about the role of women in the society, as well as promoting the emergence and development of technology start-ups in both Latvia and Uzbekistan, are also important aspects of the project.

“Experience exchange is an effective way to gain knowledge through a different point of view and to draw inspiration. We are happy to offer the participants an opportunity to look into the startup ecosystem of the partner regions, while working towards creating a potentially important future cooperation. For this we want to say a big thank you to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia for their support in enabling women’s entrepreneurial empowerment,” says Alice Gurenko, co-creator of the “Female Founders Across Borders” project led by “Riga TechGirls”.

“The program “Female Founders Across Borders” is a unique case of cooperation between non-governmental organizations of Latvia and Uzbekistan. We have quite a few female startup founders in our ecosystem, and we want to support their ideas with workshops, mentorships and exchange trips. IT and digital tools are essential for every company, and we hope that this program will help our participants to expand their businesses,” comments Elena Selezneva, representative of “Tech4Impact”.

“Riga TechGirls” is a community created by women involved in the IT industry, which aims to educate and inspire women, and invite them to join the IT industry. The goal of “Riga TechGirls” is to diversify the IT industry by involving more women so that they become not only consumers of technology, but also creators, as well as improving the digital skills of the entire society.

The non-governmental organization “Tech4Impact” works to promote the development of innovation, information technology, startups, human capital, green technology, and youth and women’s entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Registration of the program is open until November 15.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Latvia in 2022 from the cooperation development budget.
