On September 14, 2016 Cinema São Jorge welcomed the first ever edition of the Lisbon International Advertising Festival. The festival aims to recognize the best work done in the creative field while establishing the Portuguese capital as one of the world’s advertising hubs.
The Young Lisbon was the first category to be awarded, followed by the Local Lisbons. The Lisbon International Advertising Festival aims not only to award the best work on a global scale, but also on a regional level. The submitted work was awarded with Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
Next, and starting with the Craft category, followed the awarding of the festival’s 16 categories, where several agencies and production companies were recognized for their outstanding work.
Ogilvy and Mather Singapore was recognized as agency of the year and Ogilvy as Network of the Year. The title of Producer of the year was attributed to the Portuguese Major West.
The Grand Prix attributed by the Executive Jury was given to Buzzman for the piece “#WHOISTHEKING”.
The day’s events started off with a panel of discussion including Luís Silva Dias from FCB International, Ramzy Haddad from Publicis Middle East at MENA Region and Tereza Svěráková from Y&R Prague. These esteem professionals explored the theme ‘The Future: Branded Content or Storytelling in traditional media?’
Following this first conference Eva Santos from Proximity Spain, Jason Romeyko previously on Saatchi & Saatchi Switzerland and Sarah Barclay from J. Walter Thompson New York discussed the topic ‘Brands with a purpose or brands focused in great creativity?’
Completing the rounds of discussion, the last theme to be approached was ‘How not to let a great idea die’. Discussing this subject were Luis Silva Dias from FCB International, Frank Seiler from Jung von Matt Elbe and Kumuda Rao from Leo Burnett Mumbai, India.
Washington Olivetto, President of the Executive Jury, who shared his expertise and several years of experience with his fellow colleagues and with young and aspiring creatives, gave the last conference of the day.
After his speech, and opening the awards ceremony, Mr Olivetto was recognized with the Career Award, celebrating the brilliance of his career and his great contribute to the advertising field.
