OMO, Comfort Share A Touch Of Love This Ramadan

This Ramadan, household names OMO and Comfort, are back again with their annual community clothes donation drive, for the eighth year in a row, across the UAE in partnership with Uber and the Emirates Red Crescent and in line with The Year of Giving initiative by the UAE’s President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

‘Share a Touch of Love this Ramadan’ with OMO and Comfort encourages people to donate clothes to those less fortunate during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The campaign, now in its 8th year, has collected over 800,000 clothes. In 2014, the campaign set a Guinness World Record for the largest clothing collection drive and then broke its own record in 2015 and 2016.

“We at Unilever are delighted to continue with this campaign in its eighth year. Comfort and OMO are both brands that have love, sharing and giving built in their core values. The campaign takes that extra dose of love out to the wider community. It is now a key part of Unilever’s Ramadan calendar, one which consumers wait for and participate enthusiastically in,” said Marwan Yassin, Home Care Marketing Director, Unilever Gulf.

In an effort to reach more people and make it easier for them to donate, the ‘Share a Touch of Love this Ramadan’ initiative has partnered with Uber. At the push of a button, people will be able to donate their gently used clothes, by arranging a complimentary pickup through the ‘UberOMO’ option in the Uber app from 5pm – 10pm between May 28th – June 22nd.

Between the 31st of May and 17th June, the campaign will receive donations at mall stands across Dubai: in Mirdiff City Centre, Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre and Bay Avenue Mall; and hundreds of other donation boxes across the city. Uber has created a unique promo code, UberOMODXB especially for the initiative which can be used on weekends and will give riders 50 percent off on their trip to and from these malls with donation stands.

“We are delighted to partner with OMO and Comfort on this inspiring initiative, which is particularly significant following previous impactful years. The spirit of Ramadan is about reflection, caring for others, and giving. This year Uber will be making it easier for people to share a touch of love and donate from their homes to those who need it the most,” said Anthony Khoury, General Manager, Uber Middle East.

Also, Souq.com delivery personnel will be accepting donations in Dubai from May 29 until June 29. Once a Souq.com delivery is made, donations can be handed over to the Souq.com team.

The clothes collected from donation boxes are washed with OMO and Comfort before being packaged and delivered to families in need with the help of the Emirates Red Crescent. “The Red Crescent works tirelessly to assist those in need while fostering a spirit of compassion, love and generosity towards those less fortunate. We are very pleased to have OMO and Comfort as long-term partners that are bringing their successful clothes collection campaign back yet again. We are confident that this initiative will keep growing in terms of donations as well as the people positively impacted,” said Mohammad Abdullah Alhaj Al Zarouni, Director of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, Dubai branch.
