Mukund Cairae, who has been successfully managing the MENAPT business as CEO of Zee Entertainment, would now also take on additional responsibility for the Asia Pacific region. During his tenure, the network saw the launch of Zee Aflam and Zee Alwan, the network’s free-to-air channels for local audiences. These channels have opened up new genres in the Middle East and North Africa markets, both for Bollywood and Indian Drama content.
“Asia Pacific is a growing market with a lot of potential in the coming years. The Pay TV market in the region is slated to grow at double digits in the next five years, which makes it a great proposition for broadcasters and content creators. We will be looking at aggressively expanding in the region in-line with our long term goals. The products from the Zee bouquet coupled with the additional channels we offer as part of ATL Media, ensures that we offer our clients media solutions to reach their entire target audience base. With the advent of the digital era, there is a lot more on offer and we will be looking to further our leadership position in the region,” said Mr Cairae on this advancement.
In addition to the above change, Manoj A. Mathew who was the Chief Creative & Content Officer for MENAPT has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer for the region. In his new role, Mr Mathew will lead the products, revenue, distribution and operations portfolio.
“We have constantly strived for leadership positions in the Middle East and North Africa with all our products. All our channels, be it South Asian or Arabic are among the top rated in their respective genres. The growth of Zee Aflam and Zee Alwan show the tremendous interest for Indian content among the Arabs. We look forward to exploring new markets, new content and entertaining more people,” commented Mr Mathew on his new role.
“Middle East, North Africa and Asia Pacific are critical markets in our international business. We pride ourselves for finding new products to delight our audience, attracting top quality teams and at the end of its all being a profitable media conglomerate. We are proud of its success and look forward to the next chapter of growth under the new leadership. We wish Mukund and Manoj all the best in their new roles,” said Amit Goenka, CEO International Broadcast Business ZEEL.
