MENA Agencies Score High In Cristal Awards 2017

Cristal Awards 2017 was a good run for the Middle East & North Africa region, despite lesser participation from the agencies this year. The agencies that participated managed to bring home a total of 29 awards including Golds.

Y&R Dubai and TBWA\Raad continued their winning streak at the awards with both the agencies bringing home eight awards each including several Golds.

Y&R Dubai brought home four Golds – two for its ‘One Book For Peace’ campaign for Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which also received a special mention. It bagged one Gold each for Cartel’s ‘Be Seen’ and Varuna Pumps ‘Life Saving Scarecrow’.

These campaigns also bagged four Silvers with a special mention for One Book For Peace campaign.

Kalpesh Patankar, Executive Creative Director at Y&R Dubai, who was also one of the jurors, commented on the wins. “Firstly, it was great to be part of such a diverse jury coming from different places around the world. Since Cristal is the last award show of the year, you tend to know which work have been successful and stand out. When you’re competing against work like Fearless Girl and the Immunity Charm, it feels great to win, because the work you’re up against is remarkable.

“Regionally, there were some very good work from TBWA and FP7 Cairo,” he added.

TBWA\Raad won a Gold along with a Silver for its ‘Camel Power’ campaign for Nissan Middle East. It also bagged two more Silvers for advertisers McDonald’s and Connect. The agency also bagged four Bronzes for these campaigns.

FP7/MENA’s Cairo office won two Golds for its ‘The Line Up Song’ for Coca-cola. Mindshare MENA’s campaign ‘We will Sing Love’ for telco Zain won a Gold too along with a special mention for ‘Boldness’. The campaign also won one Silver and five Bronzes.
