Guided by the innovative vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry ‘SCCI’ and the Sharjah Economic Excellence Network ‘ShjSEEN’ held an awards ceremony to recognize and honor businesses, entrepreneurs and startups in the Emirate.
The Chamber honored corporate and individual winners in five categories – The Sharjah Top 10 Businesses Award, The Sharjah UAE Start-up Award, The Sharjah Entrepreneur Award, The Sharjah Green Award and The Sharjah CSR Award.
During the ceremony, HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ShjSEEN, announced the launch of a new award for top 10 GCC enterprises, aiming to stimulate corporate and individual excellence and innovation in various economic sectors. Mr Owais added that the Economic Excellence Awards, with its innovative content, multiple categories and valuable objectives, is a unique model of success. “It is based on European Quality Management Model and adapted to our local business environment”, he said.
HE Sara Al Madani, Board Member of SCCI, Board Member of ShjSeen and Board Member of the UAE SME and Enterprise Council, added that the ShjSeen Network has selected the slogan “One City, Lots of Soul” as part of its endeavor to make Sharjah an ideal city to live and a destination of choice to do business in. She highlighted their keenness to stay true to the tripartite program ‘Activate, Incubate, Award’ that aims to promote business opportunities, cultural and economic lifestyle in Sharjah, support business startups in their early years, and award cash prizes to top performing businesses. “In 2017, the central focus will be on boosting the overall growth in Sharjah by highlighting the Emirate as a distinctive destination for business and modern living,” said Ms Madani.
Hilton Sharjah hotel won the Sharjah CSR award, American University of Sharjah and Sharjah Police Headquarters received the Sharjah Green award. Fikra Design Studio and Bukhash Brothers won The Sharjah UAE Startup Award. Hazaa Al Mansouri and Mohammed Al Mushrakh were selected winners for the Sharjah Entrepreneur Award. Sharjah Top 10 Businesses Awards were presented to Anchor Allied Factory, Kingston Holdings, Al Mosafer, Zulekha Hospital, Conmix LTD, Al Ansari Exchange and Petrofac International.
The organizers chose to transport the attendees to the stars through an ‘In Space’ setup and the host dressed up in an astronaut attire. A unique feature in the event were the perfumed trophies. Specially designed by HE Mohammed Hilal, SCCI Board Member and Chairman of Mohammed Hilal Perfume Factory, the trophies held a scent which is said to last forever. “Because love comes from the heart, the award selected the heart to present to winners. Heart was the theme of the award, so that it will be an everlasting inspiration to winners,” said Mr Hilal.
