Unilever Leads Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Unilever

Unilever has been named as a leader of the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Industry Group in the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) results. It’s one of only 24 companies to be named as Industry Group Leaders.

Unilever achieved an overall score of 92 out of a possible 100, an increase from 90 in 2014. Unilever led or jointly led the industry in eight of the 23 Food Products criteria, including: Innovation Management; Strategy for Emerging Markets; Climate Strategy; Packaging; and Talent Attraction & Retention.

“These results reflect the progress we are making in delivering the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, and a reaffirmation of our approach of achieving growth by applying a long term sustainable view. We remain committed to achieving our vision of making sustainable living commonplace by serving our societies and consumers, contributing to their social and economic development, operating responsible supply chains and fostering a virtuous circle of growth,” shared Sanjiv Kakkar, Executive Vice President, Unilever MENA, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

In the Gulf region, Unilever has been recognized in several platforms for its extensive work in the field of sustainability. In 2015, Unilever won the “Best CSR Integrated Business” at the CSR Excellence Awards. In 2014, Unilever was awarded the “CSR Label” by Dubai Chamber and was recognized by the “UAE Green Brand 2013” for being a leader in sustainability innovation.

The DJSI is a globally recognised independent benchmark that measures proven company performance across material economic, environmental and social criteria. Unilever has been a member of the DJSI World Index since it began in 1999.
