Pandemic Jumpstarts Ecommerce Entrepreneurship

Kitchen Souq is planning to expand its business and increase its market share in the country, as consumers are continuing to shop online more frequently.

Kitchen Souq claims to record an increase of 47 percent on average in sales during the months between March and June, as compared to the times before the World Health Organization officially declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. The company also asserts 10 fold jump in traffic to its website together with a 31 percent rise in the number of new customers during the same period.

Home and kitchen electronics appliances and lifestyle products, such as kettles, toasters, bake ware, special juicers and meat grinders are claimed to see the greatest demand from individual consumers. Safety, competitive pricing and a wide selection of products and services are said to be the key drivers of growth in new customers and frequency. Business customers, on the other hand, were keen on merchandise that are hard to find in the market, as well as affordable glassware and accessories.

Kitchen Souq has outlined a new strategy to increase investment to improve the customer experience for both individual and business consumers. The company will focus on further enhancing its product portfolio and adopting new technologies.

“With online businesses serving to the needs of consumers faced with many challenges including mobility and safety, the Covid19 pandemic has underscored the importance of ecommerce in today’s world. At Kitchen Souq, our strong offering combined with excellent customer service has enabled us to capitalize on the opportunities coming out of the pandemic. Our attractive value proposition for both B2B and B2C customers has offered us a competitive edge in the market and we continue to experience rapid growth. While we acknowledge that the pandemic has brought tremendous challenges to many industries, it has also opened up a new world of opportunities for ecommerce entrepreneurs in the UAE. Inspired by these prospects, we are keen on investing to further expand our business through the creation of unique experiences for our customers,” noted Jihad Hassan, Founder and CEO of Kitchen Souq.

Kitchen Souq has recently partnered with the Al Jalila Foundation with an aim to donate a part of its sales to support the Foundation’s initiatives in line with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

The online shopping destination says to offer a wide assortment of products from cooking utensils to pots, pans, drink ware, serve ware, small appliances and home decor accessories. With smart designs and functions that meet your tastes and lifestyle, the company’s products stand up to everyday demands and make your kitchen and home look more attractive.
