Mr. Sunil Duggal the Group CEO of Vedanta Limited, a natural resources company, kick started the India Climate Action conference with his Impactful address on the imperativeness of Sustainability and climate action.
As global climate change becomes a reality, Dubai Expo 2020 begins with the most vital topic of discussion as a theme, Climate and Biodiversity. Climate change has observable effects on the environment. Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves. The conference aims to generate new ideas, inspire different perspectives and build a clear roadmap towards immediate action.
The Idea is to recognise it is vital to act now when the global community must take decisive and collective steps to protect the planet. Panel discussions during This Week will focus on mitigating climate change, disaster risk management, advancing the circular economy, protecting susceptible regions and conservation.
Speaking at the India Climate Action conference Mr. Sunil Duggal said “At Vedanta, we want to create an equitable world going forward, where even the developing countries have a part to play for the betterment of the world.”
Mr. Duggal also added “As Vedanta, we have a major role to play for bringing positive change. Vedanta will be reducing its carbon intensity by 2025 from a base of 2012 by 20%. Some of our sites have become water neutral and some of our companies have become water positive”
