Giving an opportunity to students, entrepreneurs and businesses to show their innovation, United Arab Emirates Vice President, Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched UAE Innovation Week. The Week which will run from November 22 to November 28 will give opportunities to the public, private and academic sectors to present their innovations from the education, health, energy, environment, space, economy and service sectors, reported WAM, the official UAE news agency.
The Innovation Week will boost several seminars, workshops and innovative laboratories. Speaking on this week, HH Sheikh Rashid Maktoum said that innovation is a necessity. “It is not a culture but work style, and governments and companies that do not innovate risk losing their competitiveness and falling far behind. We have multiplied our investments in innovation, especially in terms of equipping and training our national cadres because keeping pace with the rapid changes taking place in the world needs innovative cadres and an environment that supports innovation.”
Sheikh Mohammed has invited suggestions through social media for activities that the public would like to see during this week. A special committee of Federal and local government representatives along with the private sector is also being formed to organise the week.
