The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2018 has announced its first set of shortlists. The Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, including markets Pakistan and Turkey, have cornered a total 31 entries that will be competing for the final metal.
As is known, Cannes Lions has revamped its structure to simplify its awards. The award categories are segregated across tracks, creating a total of nine tracks. The Communication Track includes categories such as Titanium Lions, Radio & Audio, Outdoor, Design, Print & Publishing, Mobile and Films.
On day one of the now five-day festival, Cannes Lions has released shortlists for all categories except for Film Lions under this track.
Al Umobuwah To Compete For Titanium Lion
In all, 25 entries have been shortlisted in the Titanium Lions category this year. There is only one entry from MENA that is included in the list.
FP7/Dubai’s entry ‘Al Umobuwah: Putting Mum Into Parenthood’ for Babyshop has made the cut.
Radio & Audio Lions Only MENA Contender
Only two entries, both from TBWA\Raad for Louvre Abu Dhabi, titled ‘Highway Gallery’, have made it to the Radio & Audio Lions shortlist.
A total of 131 entries are shortlisted in the category globally.
JWT & TBWA\Raad In Outdoor Lions Shortlist
The MENA region, including also the work done from Turkey, has got a total of 13 shortlists in the Outdoor Lions category.
J Walter Thompson Casablanca has three entries for Nestlé Tunisie Distribution.
TBWA\Raad has two entries for Louvre Abu Dhabi.

In all, five entries from MENA have been shortlisted in the Design category. Y&R Dubai has three – all for its work done for Interreligious Council In Bosnia & Herzegovina. The other two are from The Classic Partnership Advertising Dubai and Horizon FCB.
