Security, Renewable Energy, Product Exp: Apple’s 2016 Agenda

Tim-Cook-Apple-KeynoteThe recently held Apple’s iPhone SE launch event was largely put together for Apple to discuss its new products, but one of the main highlights turned out to be issues surrounding Apple’s technology and its ongoing fight with the FBI over its iPhone security. Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer, Apple Inc. kicked the event off by saying “We did not expect to be in this position at odds with our own government. We need to decide, as a nation, how much power the government should have over our data and our privacy. We owe it to our customers, and we owe it to our country. This is an issue that impacts all of us, and we will not shrink from this responsibility.”

Apple’s meet also reiterated its focus on improving the experience of its wearable tech. The company has built an app named ‘CareKit’ for the Apple Watch that will make it easier for people to record, track and share health data with doctors. The company has a woven nylon band option that features a four-layer construction and comes in many different ‘spring’ colors, including light blue, pink and yellow. The sport band collection is receiving some new colors as well including ‘space black’ version of its classy metal Milanese loop.

This is extremely important as there are over 1 billion iOS devices currently in use worldwide. To elaborate this, Apple showed the first footage of ‘Liam’ — a robot built specifically for disassembling iPhones down to their smallest components for recycling and refurbishing. It extracts metals and components from unwanted iPhones so they can be reused.

The latest version of Apple’s TV software, tvOS 9.2, was also released and the most important part of the update is the introduction of ‘Siri’ on Apple TV. Siri can now search for any movie with just the user’s voice. The update also allows users to create folders to clean up the home screen and view iCloud photos on the big screen. These feature will prove to be extremely useful as there are over 5,000 apps available for Apple TV, including Icflix which introduced its app last month.

iphone SEApple reintroduced the small phone screen with the new iPhone SE. It is a mix of iPhone 6S parts and iPhone 5 looks. Apple is encouraging users who love ‘smaller phones’ to upgrade from the iPhone 5S to iPhone SE as the new phone has A9 processor, 12- megapixel rear camera, better battery life, touch ID sensor, faster LTE and Wi-Fi speeds and better battery life. In other words, a new phone in the old package.
