UNICEF Egypt Initiates Click Funding Campaign For Safe Water

UNICEF Egypt believes in ‘a bit of magic for a worthy cause’. Seven million Egyptians do not have safe drinking water, and a recent ad campaign from the organization aims at not only spreading awareness in people but also explores click funding to address the problem.

The ad shows Egyptian actor, Maged Al Kedwany, playing the role of a magician. The job involves pleasing a group of children, which is not proving easy for the weary magician. The fantastic attempts of pulling out different things from a pipe from a rabbit to a cat is not impressing the kids. But as soon as the pipe gushes water, the much awaited applauds and smiles come through. The message is subtle and clear at the same time. Safe water is a precious commodity in several regions of Egypt, where more than 1.5 million homes are without safe water.

The ad campaign also uses click funding to promote this message. Viewing, liking, commenting or sharing the video with the hashtag #clickscount will be counted as points. Accumulation of 1.5 million points would translate into the sponsors providing 1000 Egypt homes with water connections.
