How are digital users, particularly gamers, engaging with eSports tournaments across the world? Global Web Index looks to answer this question, reiterating the fact that while digital has become near mainstream in the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region like some of the other regions, there are avenues where user behaviors are still changing.
Around 9 percent of gamers in MEA are consuming eSports, which is lower than regions such as Asia Pacific (22%), where the likes of China and South Korea have developed eSports significantly.
With Call Of Duty: WWII due to be released early next month, GWI has placed a spotlight on Call Of Duty players’ engagement with eSports – particularly important given the game’s publisher, Activision Blizzard, has previously acquired Major League Gaming (dubbed the ‘ESPN of eSports’). While MEA users score high on watching a live gaming stream and broadcasting a live stream of their gameplay, on watching an eSport tournament, MEA has the lowest score.
