In recent times, many ad campaigns have attempted to spread awareness on the risks of being on mobile phones while driving. In most cases, the ads are seen by auto manufacturers or regulatory authorities. But telecom company Etisalat has joined this list. Etisalat’s latest ad campaign, created by its creative agency Caviar, is also based on the same lines and has clearly driven the message home.
Despite the fact that it is dangerous and illegal to use a mobile phone while driving, it is still a common practice for people to be doing so for texting, calling or even taking selfies. To highlight the dangers involved in this practice, Etisilat’s ad shows people who are distracted on their car journeys by the urge to be on their mobile. The ad shows them almost colliding with other vehicles, crashing into a flower stall and ruining the work of a construction team. Although no one is hurt in the clip, it does leave the viewer introspecting one’s own action while driving.
The commercial which comes with a warning – ‘Drive with a smile and don’t use your mobile’ – and has already been viewed by over 1.3 million users.
